Creative steps

01. Pinpointing needs

Initial documents were developed to standardize video requests and various inquiries.

There were a variety of objectives: promoting the acquisition of a new customer, supporting the sales process of aircraft options, documenting a special manoeuvrer, etc. Airbus’s multiple, complex demands called for a high level of creativity, discipline and control.

02. Creating a concept

Based on the request, the video recording or production approach was confirmed in writing. The objectives to be met were clarified by using examples.

Depending on the client’s request (Air Canada, Egypt Air, Air Tanzania, etc.), we developed a recording plan with the help of the communications department to efficiently coordinate the operation in the airport and hangars.

03. Fine tuning

Inevitably, there were surprises, but we always managed to complete the recording by adjusting to new constraints.

The initial plan might have been interrupted at any time, for example, by the change of position of a fuselage or the sudden unavailability of a member of senior management being filmed. Since panicking is never an option, flexibility was essential and contingency plans were made in advance.

04. Setting the stage

Scouting was done with the client and the technical teams to synchronize the camera operations with the movement of the aircraft.

With locations analyzed and key positions defined, we sent review documents to the teams and a coordinator was on standby 24 hours before filming in case of any last-minute changes.

05. Bringing the project to life

The production team was dispatched to the location, often early in the morning. A support team ensured that they stayed on track with the available time.

The director and the client were in constant communication for the approval of clips and the project’s progress. During the shoot, the video editor was on standby in an adjacent room, ready to generate clips for urgent releases.
