Crafting Stories with Telefilm Canada
Let me tell you about this project.
When Telefilm Canada reached out, the challenge was clear: tell the stories of their people—the ones who champion Canadian cinema with their expertise and financial support; with depth, emotion, and a touch of magic. Each interview needed to capture a full journey in just 90 seconds, condensing hours of conversation into moments that truly mattered. This is a challenge for any Documentary directors or storytellers.
Telefilm plays a vital role in championing Canadian films on the global stage. Directors, producers, and screenwriters rely on their expertise and passion to bring their visions to life.
My mission was to reflect that same care and creativity in every interview, ensuring each story resonated as deeply as the films Telefilm supports.
To do this, I needed a formula—a way to structure each interview into a compelling narrative. It started with a hook to draw viewers in, followed by the subject’s personal journey, the challenges they’ve faced, and the resolutions that define their role in the organization.
To tackle the complexity of condensing hours into minutes, I turned to a custom AI tool—a creative partner in every sense. The AI helped us extract the heart of each story, uncovering themes that reflected Telefilm’s mission: passion for cinema, cultural pride, and the human drive to create.
With precise timecodes and curated quotes, the editing process became seamless. Instead of getting lost in hours of footage, we could focus on crafting a cinematic flow. Each transition and lead-in was thoughtfully designed to reflect Telefilm’s vision while amplifying the voices that bring it to life.
A series of 10 meaningful narratives, each tailored to reflect the unique contributions of Telefilm’s team.
