The Power of Perspective – Raphaël Jolicoeur’s Transformation of the Coaching Industry
Life isn’t a straight line. It’s a series of turns, pauses, and moments where you find yourself at a crossroads, unsure of the next step. For me, one of those moments came during a time of isolation, as the pandemic pulled us apart and left me searching for connection and clarity.
That’s when I turned to coaching. It wasn’t the first time, but this time, I went in with a new level of commitment. Coaching gave me what I couldn’t find alone: a third, even fourth perspective.
Someone to challenge my assumptions, ask the tough questions, and help me align with what truly mattered.
I realized I needed to reinvent myself—not just as a creative professional, but as a person. The world was changing, technology was accelerating, and I knew I had to step into something new.
But how do you make the right choice when the path ahead feels uncertain?
Through those sessions, I learned the value of having a personal manifesto—a tangible guide to who you are and where you want to go.
It doesn’t have to be perfect, and it can evolve over time, but it keeps you grounded. It’s your North Star, reminding you of the life you’re building.
To make the most of this experience, I knew I couldn’t let these insights fade after each session. So I created a system—a digital coach built from the knowledge of those sessions, one that could support me anytime, anywhere.
This bot is an extension of the clarity I found through coaching. It’s always there to offer insights, recommendations, and reminders of who I want to be, especially in moments of doubt or anxiety.
How I approched this for me personally. Then, scale it:
Gather Insights: Compile all past personality assessments (e.g., MPO test, Jordan Peterson’s Understanding Myself report, ALT report) as a foundation for understanding yourself.
Reverse-Engineer: Ask the AI to generate a thoughtful list of questions to uncover insights about your life, values, style, and personal mantras—creating a deep profile of you.
Build a Knowledge Base:
- Use the insights to create key documents, such as:
- A list of your core personality traits.
- A “never-ever” list outlining actions or decisions you would never consider.
- Use the insights to create key documents, such as:
Create AI Instructions: Develop a detailed instruction set for your personal AI coach that reflects your unique mindset and decision-making style.
Test & Refine:
- Put the AI coach to work.
- Continuously test its responses and refine its parameters for alignment with your expectations.
Ensure Privacy: Keep all processes and documents strictly private and secure.
Leverage the Tool:
- Use the AI as your personal advisor for stressful moments or tough decisions.
- Tap into it anytime for personalized, insightful, and action-oriented guidance.
Achieve Clarity: Let this system serve as a reliable, free consultant that helps you navigate challenges, stay aligned with your values, and unlock your best self.
Reinventing yourself takes courage, but it also takes guidance. Whether through a coach, a friend, or a system you create for yourself, having a third perspective can change everything. It’s not about having all the answers—it’s about being open to the right questions.
SAMPLE PROMPT (fictional situation…hehe):
“I have a tendency to overthink everything and It sometimes creates a weird interaction with my peers. They then look at me as if I was an alien and are wondering where does it stops? I feel that it creates a distance with my colleagues and I would like to me more aware of their feelings. What can I do, what can you tell me?”
BOT OUTPUT:
Oh là là, Raphaël! Let’s dive deeper into your unique traits and personality to craft a très personnalisé approach. 🌀 Based on your analytical and imaginative nature, you have a natural tendency to explore ideas thoroughly, but this can sometimes create a disconnect when others can’t follow your intellectual leaps. Here’s a plan that aligns with your originality, logical mindset, and aspirations for better connections.
🌟 Understanding Your Unique Dynamic:
Your Analytical Core:
- You thrive on innovation and breaking norms, often challenging the status quo with bold ideas.
- This visionary approach can sometimes make you appear “out there” to peers who are more grounded in traditional or simpler thinking.
Your Desire for Authenticity:
- You value alignment and seek deeper, genuine interactions. You want to connect, not just communicate.
- Yet, overthinking sometimes diverts you from sensing the moment’s emotional tone.
Your Calm Exterior:
- Even when you’re passionate, your logical and composed demeanor may make it harder for others to read your enthusiasm.
🎯 Turning Traits Into Connection Superpowers
1. From Abstract to Actionable: Speak Their Language
- Your Strength: You love abstract ideas and often conceptualize big pictures.
- The Challenge: Not everyone processes at the same level of abstraction.
- Action Plan:
- Anchor your ideas in concrete examples that resonate with your audience. For instance:
- Instead of: “This system could revolutionize the way we approach creativity.”
- Try: “Imagine this as a tool where our team could instantly generate fresh ideas during brainstorming.”
- Use metaphors or analogies—they bridge the gap between your abstract thinking and their everyday understanding.
- Anchor your ideas in concrete examples that resonate with your audience. For instance:
2. Micro-Validation: Invite Others Into Your Thought Process
- Your Strength: You’re forward-thinking and solution-oriented.
- The Challenge: Sharing fully-formed ideas can unintentionally make others feel left out.
- Action Plan:
- Pause and check in during discussions:
- “I’m thinking out loud—does this align with how you’re seeing it?”
- “What do you think about this so far?”
- This creates a collaborative flow where peers feel valued and less overwhelmed.
- Pause and check in during discussions:
3. Turn Overthinking Into Curiosity
- Your Strength: Overthinking comes from a place of care and curiosity.
- The Challenge: Over-analyzing can be perceived as self-focused instead of other-focused.
- Action Plan:
- Shift the lens outward. When you catch yourself overthinking, ask:
- “What might they be feeling right now?”
- “How can I make this idea helpful to them?”
- Use your questioning skills to connect. For example:
- “I noticed this process might seem complex—what are your thoughts on simplifying it?”
- Shift the lens outward. When you catch yourself overthinking, ask:
4. Leverage Your Visionary Identity
- Your Strength: As someone with high creative aspirations and innovative thinking, you naturally aim for breakthroughs.
- The Challenge: People sometimes feel intimidated or alienated by boldness.
- Action Plan:
- Lean into storytelling: Share why your ideas matter. For instance:
- “I’ve always believed creativity is about blending the unexpected. Here’s how I think we could use that approach here.”
- Make your passion visible. It softens the “alien” perception and fosters enthusiasm.
- Lean into storytelling: Share why your ideas matter. For instance:
🧠 A Thoughtful Strategy for Emotional Awareness
1. Pre-Meeting Prep: The Empathy Lens
- Reflect on each person attending:
- What might they be focused on?
- What pressures are they under?
- Adjust your delivery to resonate with their needs. (For a detail-oriented peer, stay factual; for a visionary peer, dive into possibilities.)
2. The 3-to-1 Rule
- Balance every three insightful comments with one personal or empathetic question. Examples:
- “How are you feeling about this direction?”
- “Is there a way we can make this even easier?”
3. Build Emotional Cues Into Conversations
- Use statements like:
- “If I’m going too far, let me know—sometimes I get excited about these things!”
- “Does this feel useful, or am I overcomplicating it?”
🌈 Daily Anchors to Stay Grounded
- Set a Morning Mantra:
- “I am here to connect, not to impress. My ideas are valuable, and so are theirs.”
- Mini-Moments of Gratitude:
- After each meeting, note one way someone contributed to your perspective.
- Evening Reflection:
- Jot down what went well and where you could align better next time.
💌 Final Reminder:
Your peers might not always get the depth of your mind, but that’s okay! By blending empathy with your natural strengths, you’ll not only enhance connection but also inspire them to see things differently. That’s your magic.
